ovens, discuss...

I think we can all agree that cleaning the oven is the worst job in the house. It usually takes forever, makes a lot of mess and requires a considerable amount of chemicals. Chemical oven cleaners are so bad for our health, we breathe them in while cleaning our oven and then cook food for our family shortly after. All you have to do is read the safety instructions on the back of the bottle to understand how bad they really are. They often require you to pre-heat your oven or let the product sit for long periods of time, filling your home with toxic vapour. With so many corrosive chemicals inside, it's amazing that these products still can't properly clean our oven. So the question remains, with so many eye and lung attacking ingredients, residual chemicals left behind, and not a whole lot of progress, why do we continue to use these products?

Nature knows

The most common perception of natural cleaning products is that they don't work. With experience in cleaning for many years, we have tried and tested numerous things and have found that cleaning products with natural ingredients are the most effective in creating an anti-bacterial environment. This is beneficial for all of us because this means less impact on the environment, no damage to furniture or expensive finishings and no one's health is at risk.

So we're here to tell you that we have discovered the best natural oven cleaner ever; Our Eco Clean's Bicarb Cleaning Paste! You can use it in more places than one, including ovens, tiles, shower screens and sinks. Due to the inclusion of bi-carb soda, this cleaning paste has a thicker consistency than a cream cleaner which is part of what makes it so powerful. While you are cleaning, your home is filled with a strong lemon scent, leaving your house feeling fresher than ever.

how to

Apply the paste throughout your oven with a damp kitchen sponge, if you think your oven needs a bit of extra attention you can spray some white vinegar on top of the product to activate the bi-carb soda. Let the mixture sit for a few minutes if you feel as though it is necessary, although this is not required. Scrub with a kitchen sponge, rinse with a damp cloth and watch your oven transform!

DIY

If you are interested in homemade cleaning products, there are many different concoctions you can create at home with common household ingredients. Some of the most popular natural ingredients include; lemon, eucalyptus, white vinegar, bi-carb soda and citric acid; which is an environmentally benign cleaning agent that acts as an antioxidant. It is found in a variety of fruits and vegetables but is most concentrated in lemons and limes. Add different essential oils like tea tree or peppermint to adjust your creation depending on what you intend to use it for and the possibilities are endless. If you don't have time to make lotions and potions, go straight for our new favourite product to use throughout the house!

don't take our word for it

With the use of mainstream cleaning chemicals, this often means an array of various products for different jobs, which is creating clutter in homes everywhere! Many trusted natural brands provide a smaller range that can cater to numerous household jobs. We highly recommend Ecostore and Our Eco Clean for a complete home cleaning range of products that truly work. Remember, just because a product has the word 'earth' or 'organic' inside doesn't mean it is safe. Always read the back of the label and try it out for yourself to see the difference.
