green is clean

Having a clean home is important to protect the health of yourself and your family. This not only means getting rid of the dirt and mess that you can see, but also the germs and toxins in the air. The results of NASA's Clean Air Study showed that in addition to absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen, certain common indoor plants may also provide a natural way of removing organic pollutants such as benzene, formaldehyde and trichloroethylene. Studies have also shown that being in the presence of plants reduces stress and anxiety levels. We've listed our top five indoor plants to elevate your space and breathe easy.

devil's ivy

Earning it's name as a result of being impossible to kill, this plant has a beautiful bright green complexion and is known to maintain it's greenery even when kept in the dark. Flourishing in temperate conditions, this evergreen vine has heart shaped leaves and climbs by means of aerial roots, attaching itself to surfaces. This is the perfect plant to be placed on a high shelf or in a hanging basket so that you can enjoy its draping beauty all year round.

Chinese evergreen

These evergreen plants are often variegated with silver and deep green coloration. This is a rare occurrence in nature which is sometimes found in the underbrush of tropical rainforests. This habitat is the source of a number of variegated house plants. It's no wonder the sight of this beauty is enough to take your breath away. Keep it in a beautiful pot or basket in an entryway or common area in your home.

bamboo palm

You can't go past a classic. Bring the outside in and make your home feel like a tropical paradise. Unlike most tropical plants, this palm will grow in low light conditions, although they will grow taller with more light; making the bamboo palm a low maintenance house guest, very easy to care for and happy in whichever room you decide.

weeping fig

Growing up to 30 metres in height, this species of ficus tree is commonly seen in tropical climates in parks or along wide roads with gracefully drooping branches and deep green glossy leaves. It also makes an elegant houseplant, thriving in bright, sunny conditions while also being able to tolerate considerable shade. This luscious beauty is a must-have to bring your interiors to life.

Aloe Vera

Loved by everyone, this evergreen succulent is found in tropical climates around the world. While also growing successfully in pots, this plant requires very little watering and is resistant to most insect pests. As it boasts a beautiful yellow tubular flower in the summer time, Aloe Vera is the perfect plant to brighten up your interiors. If being good-looking and air-cleaning wasn't enough, it's a must for that summer sunburn or minor cooking disaster.
